This entire story takes place in the community, a town where everyone does what they're told to do. Every year, there are ceremonies to celebrate your new age, until you turn twelve. When you become twelve, you are given your assignment, or job, to serve the community until you become of old age. When you're no longer able to work because of old age, you go to the house of the old. After that, you are released.....

What do you think of the release?
ReplyDeleteThe release is terrible, just ending the lives of others because they are old, or not at a healthy weight at birth. It's wrong, the community should let people die of natural causes.
ReplyDeleteEven when they're too old to be coherent and of use, and just drain the Community of resources? And with the young ones, the system needs to be stable and static. No overpopulation or starvation. It's something to think about.
